2020 Season Update & Help Needed

Posted by Nobody on 25 April 2020

We hope you and your family are safe and well during this difficult time and that you are managing to enjoy this lovely, summer, cricketing weather (within the guidelines of course). Last night would have been the second glorious night of junior training and today would have been the first day of the cricket season.  Never mind, we will get there.

The ECB announced yesterday that there will be no professional cricket until at least 1st July due to the Covid-19 outbreak which will unfortunately have a dramatic impact on the club’s finances.

We are reaching out to all our members past and present to help the club through this exceedingly difficult time and to ask if you can make a voluntary contribution this season for your membership.  This will ensure that the club is still here for the community to enjoy the facilities later this year and the next.  If there is no cricket played this season the club will financially struggle with no membership income and no bar income from events or junior training nights.  We fully appreciate that this is a very difficult for many families too, but we would love the club to be here to celebrate at the end of all this and we desperately need your help.

We will be revisiting membership prices further down the line, as and when the cricket season does start and therefore any donation would go towards the revised membership fee for the year.

We wish to thank all those who have paid their earlybird membership fees and we apologise that we have not been in touch before now. We needed to wait on further information from the ECB before we could write to you all.

If you are one of the earlybirds and you have already paid your membership there are four options available to you.

  1. You can donate your current year membership fee to the club to help it survive through this pandemic.
  2. You can request a refund - full or part if you wish to make a voluntary donation from the payment
  3. You can carry your membership forward to next year - whether it be fully transferred to next year or partly transferred and a voluntary donation made for this year.
  4. You can wait until further information is known about the season and then we can discuss your options.

For all members that have already paid could you please get in touch with me or a committee member to confirm the option you would like to take.

The easiest way to pay your voluntary membership donation would be through an online bank payment. I ask that you provide your full name as the reference so I can keep track of who has paid and ask that you please send me an email to let me know who the payment is for. The club’s bank details are as follows:

Bank:  TSB

Account Number:  00034473

Sort Code: 30-10-12

Account Name: Albrighton Cricket Club

To say a big thank you to all of you that make a voluntary membership contribution this year and for your loyalty, there will be a big family day down the cricket club.  It will be very similar to Presidents day along the lines of a junior match, then a ladies softball game followed by a men's game if it is still summer.  If it draws into the Autumn / Winter months we will have a big party in the clubhouse to celebrate which will be free of charge.  This will be something everyone can look forward to.

Finally, on behalf of Albrighton Cricket Club we would just like to send our best wishes to you and your family during this difficult time and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
